Steven Rush, 56, Of Somers

SOMERS,N .Y. – Steven Edward Rush of Somers died Oct. 15 at his home. He was 56. 

He was a son of John and Margaret Branigan Rush.

Rush graduated from SUNY Canton with a degree in criminal justice. After college, he lived and worked in California. He survived a car accident 30 years ago and sustained a traumatic brain injury and memory loss. His family attributes his survival to his will power and the miraculous work of emergency responders and skilled surgeons. 

He never lost his love of family, his kind disposition, or his passion for the game of baseball, especially the New York Yankees, his family said. He also enjoyed coin collecting. 

Rush is survived by three brothers, Timothy (Dawn) Rush, of La Plata, Md., John (Lynn) Rush, of Hooksett, N.H., and Robert Rush, of Somers; a sister, Jacqueline (Vincent) Finn, of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Monica Rush, of Somers; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by a brother, Hugh Rush. 

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, at Cargain Funeral Home in Mahopac, N.Y. Burial will be Saturday at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Somers.
