He was born Oct. 14, 1953, to Howard Vincent and Florence Otway in White Plains.
He was professor of mathematics and chair of the department of mathematical sciences at Yeshiva University for more than 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, AnneMarie Palagano; children, James Laurence and Kathleen Agnes Otway; and his brother, Lawrence Otway.
There will be a gathering of family and friends Sunday from 2-4 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson.
