Vivian Brown Busch Messina, 97, Lakeland Schools Cafeteria Worker

MILLBROOK, N.Y. - Vivian Brown Busch Messina, a resident at The Fountains, Millbrook since 2008 and formerly of Yorktown Heights and Peekskill, N.Y., died March 12. She was 97.

Messina was born in Peekskill, N.Y., on July 9, 1915, daughter of Lewis Brown and Josephine Ansorge Brown.

She grew up in Peekskill and Roe Park (Cortlandt Manor), and attended Peekskill schools. She worked at Fleischmann’s for some years and then worked for the Lakeland School District for 35 years as a server, cook, head cook and cashier until age 73. She worked in many of the schools, including Toddville, Walter Panas, Copper Beach, and longest at Lincoln Titus Elementary.

Messina is survived by her children, daughter, Vivian Kulich (Ronald) of Pleasant Valley; son, Allan Busch (Sue) of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; her other son, William Busch (Dolores) of Goode, Va.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, William H. Busch and Nicholas Messina; granddaughter Donna Angus.

Calling hours are Friday, March 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill, where a funeral will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16 followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
