William Judd Swift, 81, Of Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. – William Judd Swift, of Somers and formerly of Farmingdale, Long Island, died Wednesday, July 15, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 81.

Swift was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Brooklyn, to Louise Currier and Donald Judd Swift.

He graduated from Malverne High School, and received degrees from Valparaiso University in Indiana and Washington University in St. Louis.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Swift went on to be an economics professor at Pace University in Manhattan and Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Eugenia (Kotovitch), three children, Margaret Louise Staeben of Arlington, Va., Donna Jean Swift of Ossining, and Eugene Judd Swift of Sherman Oaks, Calif., son-in-law Derwood Staeben, and grandchildren Alexandra, Nina and James Staeben of Virginia and Alexander and Emily Swift of California.

Visiting hours are from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at Cargain Funeral Home, 418 Route 6, Mahopac.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, at Grace Lutheran Church, 3830 Gomer St., Yorktown Heights.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to either Grace Lutheran Church in Yorktown Heights, to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bethpage, or to a charity of your choice.
