Bedford Hills Correctional Facility Officer Charged With Rape

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- A former officer from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility was charged with raping an inmate on Monday, July 7, according to New York State Police.

Richard Rodriguez, 33, of Brooklyn was arrested following the investigation into a report that he had engaged in sexual activity with in an inmate in December of last year, police said.

Rodriguez was suspended from duty and charged with third-degree rape. He was released on $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 4, according to state police.
