Ralph Belotti, 53, was wanted for his alleged involvement in a home invasion burglary that took place in New City on Thursday, Jan. 5, said Officer Peter Walker.

The crime allegedly took place around 11 a.m. when Clarkstown officers responded to 44 Buena Vista Road for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner, a 20-year-old female, was home at the time of the break-in, Walker added.

Responding patrol units interviewed the victim who stated that she was home alone on the second floor of the home. She heard someone knock on the front door. A few minutes later she heard someone break through the rear door of the house. The victim locked herself in a closet in her bedroom, Walker said.

A neighbor was able to interrupt the incident and the man fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan. Through witness statements and video footage the Clarkstown Detective Bureau was able to compile enough evidence to secure an arrest warrant for Belotti, Walker said.

Belotti was taken into custody in New Rochelle as he appeared for a scheduled visit with his parole officer.

He was charged with felony burglary and is being held at the Rockland County Jail.
