Brush Fire Rages For Second Day In Cortlandt

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Firefighters are in the woods behind Camp Smith for a second day Monday battling a brush fire.

The brush fire began Sunday at 1 p.m. and firefighers spent seven hours on the scene. Firefighters entered the woods through multiple points, including South Mountain Pass and set up incident commend at the Chickory Meadow Farm, according to the Continental Village Fire Department.

 Large water drops were coordinated between Westchester County Police Department Aviation and firefighters on the ground, according to the Continental Village Fire Department.

Mutual aid is being provided by Buchanan Fire Department, Garrison Fire Department, Putnam Valley Fire Department, Cold Spring Fire Department, North Highlands Fire Department, Peekskill EMS, New York State Park Rangers, and Camp Smith Force Protection.
