The two sets of specially designed pet oxygen masks will help firefighters resuscitate pets rescued during house fires. The gift came from at-home pet services provider Canine Company.

First Assistant Chief Patricia Gallagher requested the donation after learning about Canine Company’s charitable campaign to get the lifesaving masks into the hands of first responders in communities where it clients and their pets live.

“The Croton Falls Fire Department appreciates the donation from the Canine Company," Gallagher said. “While we hope not to have a need to use the masks, we're better prepared in the event of a pet emergency at a fire. We care about the whole family when there's an incident."

The department will deploy one set at the Croton Falls Fire Station and the other at the North Salem Fire Station so pet-loving households through the district have access to the life-saving equipment.

To ensure firefighters know to look for pets in a home, Canine Company is offering free “pets inside” decals that district families can place on a front door or window. To request a decal, go to https://www.caninecompany.com/topic/petdecal.aspx.
