Westchester County's Haz Mat team also responded to the spill, which took place off of Lily Pond Lane.
Katonah Fire Chief Paul Bauer said that the spill was from a new oil delivery's tank.
It is believed that about 250 galoons from the tank came out, according to Bauer. It took about an hour and a half to contain the spill, the chief explained.
“It was a long, extensive process to determine how far it got,” Bauer said.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), New York City's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the county's health department were notified, according to Bauer.
A contractor will work on the clean up, Bauer explained.
The chief did not know what caused the spill.
