House Fire Leads To Hours-Long Route 6 Closure In Carmel

CARMEL, N.Y. -- It took several hours for firefighters from multiple municipalities to contain a house fire that led to the closure of a stretch of Route 6 in Carmel for several hours on Christmas Eve.

The blaze, at 1363 Route 6 near Stoneleigh Avenue, began around 8 p.m. Saturday.

No injuries to either residents of the house or firefighters were reported.

Carmel firefighters, who were first on the scene, were assisted by the Kent, Mahopac, Patterson and Putnam Valley fire departments.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
