Jail Warden Suspended Over Actor's Picture With Haverstraw Inmate

The warden of the Westchester County Jail was suspended this week after an actor filming there took a selfie with one of the inmates, Haverstraw resident Matthew "Mata" Draper, according to multiple media reports.

Westchester officials are investigating how actor Omari Hardwick, left, was able to pose in this selfie with Matthew "Mata" Draper, right, a Haverstraw resident and inmate in the Westchester County Jail.

Cell phones, considered contraband, are not allowed in the jail.

News 12 Westchester Tuesday identified the suspended official as Karl Volmer.

The photo of Omari Hardwick, who appears as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the Starz series “Power,” posing with the 47-year-old accused drug trafficker went viral after it was posted on social media by the show’s executive producer, 50 Cent, and rapper Tony Yayo, according to lohud.com and Westchester magazine.

Volmer had escorted Harwick around the facility, the chief of the corrections union told News 12.

Draper is facing federal drug charges after being arrested in Yonkers earlier this month, according to media reports.

The Westchester County Department of Correction is investigating the incident and jail officials are reviewing their policies for filming at the facility, according to lohud.com.
