Knife-Wielding Mohegan Lake Man Threatens Good Samaritan, Say Police

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Mohegan Lake man was arrested after threatening a good Samaritan with a knife on Thursday, according to New York State Police.

Waldy Negron, 34, Negron was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony due to Negron’s previous felony conviction; and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor, police said.  

Following a complaint on Friday, troopers responded to a parking lot on Crompond Road in the Town of Cortlandt. An investigation revealed Negron had been involved in a domestic dispute with a family member before a good Samaritan intervened to help the victim, police said. Then, Negron drew a knife and threatened to stab the good Samaritan, according to police. As sirens approached, Negron returned to his vehicle and fled the area before almost striking the good Samaritan with his car, police said.

Troopers caught up with Negron shortly after the incident and took him into custody, police said.

Negron was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail, according to police.
