Man, 26, Faces Drug Charges After Running Red Light On Route 6

MAHOPAC, N. Y. -- A 26-year-old Mahopac man is facing drug charges after Putnam County Sheriff's deputies stopped his car recently for reportedly running a red light on Route 6 in Mahopac, police said.

Mark A. Rasulo, Jr., of Aimee Court, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said. He's being held in the Putnam County Correctional Facility, police said.

In a statement, Putnam Cunty Sheriff Donald B. Smith said police made the stop Feb. 3, and noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car. Police then found marijuana and controlled substances in the man's possession, Smith said.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, police said.
