Police arrived on the scene of Route 133 (Millwood Road), around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, at a stretch near High Meadows Road. The matter is described by police as a one-car accident.

A police investigation shows that the man was traveling westbound on Route 133 in a 1999 BMW. The driver drove off the road, struck a utility pole, continued on and struck a second pole, police said.

The vehicle then came to a stop and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

As a result of the crash, a section of Route 133 has been closed off. The affected section is between the intersections with Crow Hill Road and Seven Bridges Road. Police cited damage to the utility poles as the reason for the closure. Con Edison has been working to reopen the road, police added.

Westchester County Police and the Mount Kisco Fire Department provided assistance, police added.

Police declined to release the driver's name for now.
