The crash occurred just after midnight near Exit 9 in Bethel, Conn., the Post said.
Kurtis Liska, 27, of New Fairfield, Conn., was traveling in the right lane when he drifted onto the right shoulder and hit the trailer of a vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder, state police told the Post.
Liska was taken by ambulance to Danbury Hospital, where he died of his injuries, the Connecticut Post said.
The crash remained under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police Troop A at 203-267-2200.
