Williams was charged with assault in the third degree and criminal obstruction of breathing, both misdemeanors.
Police said they were notified of a previous incident with Williams and after investigation, had found that earlier in the day, he grabbed the throat of a Wildwood Street resident and choked her, punched her in the eye and threw her on the floor. He voluntarily arrived at the police station and was placed under arrest.
Williams was charged and arraigned in Town Court before Judge Gary J. Raniolo, who also issued a restraining order on behalf of the victim. The defendant is to appear in Yorktown Court on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.
