Man Charged With DWI After Three-Car Crash Near I-684

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Brewster barracks charged a Dutchess County man with driving while intoxicated following a three-car accident on Route 22 near Interstate 684 on Friday, Feb. 27, according to officials.

William J. Carey, 60, was traveling north on Route 22 when two vehicles in front of him began to slow due to traffic. Carey struck the rear of a Jeep Cherokee operated by 22-year-old Christina R. Bond of Yorktown Heights. The Jeep was subsequently pushed into the rear of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Albert D. Pignatello of Kent, Conn., police said. 

Following the investigation, it was discovered that Carey was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was transported by Brewster Rescue Squad to Danbury, Conn., Hospital with a back injury and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, March 26, police said. 

Bond was charged with four counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana when she was allegedly discovered to be in possession of marijuana, hashish and controlled substances without proper prescriptions. Bond will appear in court on Friday, March 13, police said.
