Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Fini Drive at 12:55 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9. When approaching the vehicle, the deputy could smell marijuana coming from the car, sheriff's officials said.
Radovich determined that the driver, Jonathan J. Ganjian, 30, of New Fairfield was in possession of a quantity of marijuana. During a investigation, the deputy also learned that Ganjian had been driving on a suspended license for DWI and that he was subject to a court-ordered ignition interlock device, which he did not have on his car, sheriff's officials said.
Ganjian was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and and circumvention of an Interlock device.
He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $250 bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charges on Dec. 13.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, Ganjian could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
