Millbrook resident Andrew Winstel, 34 surrendered himself into custody at the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department on Friday, when investigators received a complaint of a past violation of an order of protection.

According to police, the victim stated that Winstel made a verbal threat that he was going to kill the victim, who is currently the protected part of a Family Court Order of Protection, which prohibits Winstel from making contact with the aggrieved party.

Within a few hours, police said that investigators were able to get in touch with Winstel, who surrendered himself into police custody at the department, where he was arrested and charged with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt.

Winstel was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Winstel is due back in court on Wednesday, June 6 to answer the charge.
