Blaise Santella, 31, and his passenger Sara Giangiobbe, 28, both of Mohegan Lake, were arrested Tuesday night after a traffic stop, Rochelle Park Police Lt. Dean Pinto said.

Santella was driving his 1998 Honda Civic on Essex Street at 11:30 p.m. when police noticed its loud exhaust, an obstructed view out the windshield and no rear license plate light, according to Pinto.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer saw that Santella was visibly shaking as he handed over his paperwork, along with other behavioral and physical indicators, Pinto said.

The officer received information that indicated that the occupants were in a known high drug trafficking area of Paterson, and they lived in Westchester, according to Pinto.

Santella was subsequently found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes while Giangiobbe produced several envelopes of heroin from her bra area, as well as a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of numerous empty baggies of heroin in her purse and about the vehicle’s interior, Pinto said.

Both parties were arrested, brought to headquarters for processing and released on a summons pending an appearance at Central Judicial Processing.
