Police: DWI Mahopac Man Flees After Road Rage Crash, Then Escapes From Cell

A drunk Mahopac man involved in a road rage incident on Saturday, March 18, left his car parked in the middle of the roadway and then, after arrested, broke the jail cell door and escaped, according to the Carmel Police.

Mark Rasulo, Jr, 27, was involved in the incident with another driver around 8:09 p.m. at 6 N. Baldwin Place Road, said Chief Michael Cazzari.

After the incident, Rasulo got out of his car and left it parked in the roadway, Cazzari said.

Officers located him walking and noticed an odor of alcohol. He was charged with DWI and for parking on the pavement and taken to the Carmel Police Department, police said.

Once in a cell, Rasulo became enraged again and broke the cell door and ran from the building with officers chasing him, police said.

 He was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and was additionally charged with felony criminal mischief, escape, resisting and obstruction of governmental administration. 

Rasulo is being held at the Putnam County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
