Search For Armed Man, Accomplice Prompts Klsd Lockout

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- The search for an armed and dangerous Cortlandt man who allegedly is wanted for menacing with a firearm and for outstanding warrants in New York and South Carolina prompted a lockout at the Katonah-Lewisboro School District on Tuesday.

The morning lockout ended around noontime, Katonah-Lewisboro superintendent Andrew Selesnick said in an email.

“We have now been advised by the Lewisboro Police that the situation in Cortlandt has changed and that a lockout in our own schools is no longer necessary," Selesnick said.

The lockout began “out of an abundance of caution," Selesnick said, after he consulted with the Lewisboro Police Department.

In a lockout, school continues as normal inside buildings, but access in and out of the buildings is strictly limited.

George J. Foster, 33, who is being sought by New York State Police, is described as a white male, 5 feet, 6 inches, and approximately 200 pounds, police said.

He was last seen on the 200 block of Locust Avenue in the Town of Cortlandt early Tuesday morning at about 3:30 a.m., according to police.

Foster may be may be accompanied by Renee Jones, 33, who is also wanted by the State Police from an alleged unrelated incident, said police.

Foster should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
