Somers Masseuses Face Felony Charges

New York State Police said two Queens women at a Somers business offered to give undercover investigators massages without being properly licensed.

SOMERS, N.Y. – State police arrested two Queens women Wednesday on felony charges accusing them of giving massages at their Somers business without proper licensing.

Police said the women, while employed at Shanghai Massage Therapy on Route 202, offered massages to undercover investigators without being licensed through the state Department of Education.

Ping Liu, 51, and Zhang Qiang, 21, both of Flushing in Queens, were charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, a Class E felony.

The women were released on appearance tickets are due Monday in Somers Town Court.

The arrests came after an investigation by state police in conjunction with the Department of Education.
