Suspicious Couple Follows 12-Year-Old Girl, Bedford Police Say

BEDFORD, N.Y. - Police are investigating a suspicious couple that recently approached and followed a little girl after school in Bedford.

On Tuesday, April 18, Bedford Police said that a 12-year-old girl was approached and followed by a couple in a car as she exited the school bus and walked toward her Meadow Lane Road home in Katonah. The mother spoke with the couple, who claimed to work for a production company, offering the mother a flier with their name and phone number, which she declined.

Following the incident, the mother notified police of the suspicious activity, though she could not identify the license plate number of their vehicle. Police said they have been in contact with neighboring law enforcement agencies, but there have been no similar reports.

  • At approximately 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, police were dispatched to Springhurst Road in Bedford Hills, where there were multiple reports of an emotionally disturbed man who could not speak English. Upon arrival, officers reported that there was a 26-year-old man from Long Island darting in and out of the woods and into traffic.

Police said they were able to restrain the man and he was taken to the police station for identification, where it was determined he had no criminal record. The man was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by paramedics and reportedly was able to communicate to emergency personnel that he had been involved in an argument with a family member.

  • Later that day. at 1:51 p.m., a father on New Street in Katonah called police for help following an altercation with his teenager daughter. who allegedly struck him during an argument. Police said the father did not require medical attention, though the daughter, who was “upset” was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
