SOMERS, N.Y. – As 2012 draws to a close, The Somers Daily Voice is recapping some of the biggest stories of the past year.

The friends and relatives of Alexander Bergman, a 2007 graduate of North Salem High School, were devastated when the 23-year-old Somers man disappeared during a pool party at the home of a friend in Ridgefield, Conn.

It was thought initially that he had disappeared in nearby woods, but a day later he was discovered to have drowned in the swimming pool.

Bergman was a National Merit Scholar and had been active in sports in high school, playing both football and lacrosse. He was also a Boy Scout and worked summers as a counselor at Somers’ Summer Trails Day Camp and Camp Kiwi.
