Unauthorized $17K Bank Withdrawal Tops Bedford Police Blotter

BEDFORD, N.Y. - A Bedford resident recently reported that nearly $20,000 had been withdrawn from his bank accounts without his knowledge.

On Friday, April 14, the Bedford resident came to the Bedford Police Department to report that $17,000 had been withdrawn without his permission from his personal bank three weeks prior. Police have reported the incident at fraud and said that the man is working with his bank’s fraud department for reimbursement.

Other items on the Bedford Police Department blotter include:

  • On Monday, April 10, the Bedford dog control office was contacted by a resident who reported that the day before, her dog had been bitten by another at a local dog park after fighting over a bowl of water. The woman said that her dog was injured and she wanted the owner of the other dog to pay the medical bills, which totaled nearly $1,000. Police determined the matter to be of a civil nature.
  • Shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, police had to put down a deer on Greenwich Road that had been attacked by dogs. Police were alerted to the situation after receiving a call from a concerned person who saw the dogs attack the deer and officers used one round to kill the deer. Police searched for, but were ultimately unable to track down the dogs.
  • The following day, a 20-year-old South Salem resident was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license after being involved in a three-car accident on Bedford Road in Bedford Hills near Kohl’s. The driver was released on $150 bail and is due back in court on Wednesday, April 26.
  • On Thursday, April 13, “a rabid raccoon on Buxton Road in Bedford Hills was destroyed with two shots from a police service weapon,” according to the police report.
