Yorktown Man Who Crashes Into Pole Charged With DWI, Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – James A. Mantey, a 35-year-old Yorktown resident, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to use a designated lane after he crashed his car into a utility pole on Saturday.

Yorktown Police say an officer was dispatched to Underhill Avenue and Baldwin Road on the report of  a motor vehicle accident. Police say they found a vehicle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole, snapping it in half. Following an investigation, police found that Mantey was operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition and he failed to use the designated lane, police said. Mantey was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown police headquarters, police said.

Police said following processing, Mantey requested medical attention for a minor injury sustained in the accident. Mantey was issued an appearance ticket and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital Center by YVAV, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.
