Yorktown Police Arrest Peekskill Man On Warrants For Fireworks Violations

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 37-year-old Peekskill resident on a pair of warrants for unlawfully dealing with fireworks that stemmed from a prior case in the City of Peekskill.

A Yorktown officer was on patrol on Route 202 when he said he observed the driver of a vehicle using a cell phone at approximately 11:40 a.m. Monday, police report.

The vehicle was stopped on Route 35, at the intersection with Ridge Street, and the driver was identified as Alvin K. Anderson, according to officials.

Following an investigation at the scene, it was determined the City of Peekskill had two active arrest warrants for Anderson for unlawfully dealing with fireworks, a violation, police report.

Anderson was taken into custody and transported to the Yorktown Police Department. Along with the warrants, he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone, a traffic infraction, according to officials.

Anderson was later released to a City of Peekskill police officer, officials report.
