YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown police arrested a 21-year-old male from Yonkers and a 16-year-old female from Carmel on shoplifting charges on Monday.

Police received a call Monday from Sears security reporting two shoplifters in custody, police report.

Following an investigation at the scene, officers arrested Lucas Rodriguez and the teenage female, whose name is being withheld due to her eligibility for youthful offender status, according to officials.

Rodriguez and the female allegedly exited Sears without attempting to pay for assorted clothing, jewelry and perfume valued at a total of $124.99, police report.

Both suspects were charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

Following processing at police headquarters, Rodriguez was arraigned; he was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $2,500 bond, police report.

Rodriguez is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, according to police.

The 16-year-old female was released to a parent on her own recognizance and is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Jan. 19, officials report.
