CARMEL, N.Y. -- Incumbent Assembly member Steve Katz (R-Yorktown) defeated challenger Dario Gristina (R-Putnam Valley) Thursday night for the Republican nomination in the newly-redrawn 94th Assembly District.

With 78 percent of the vote in for Westchester, Katz was the apparent winner leading Gristina 60 to 40 percent, according to unofficial Board of Election votes.  Katz defeated Gristina in Putnam County 66 to 23 percent.

"We are all energized. You are going to see Republicans more energized than they have been before as this election moves forward," Katz told supporters.

Katz added, "I’m humbled. Absolutely humbled. I'm so proud to represent those people, and the fact that they are acknowledging the hard work that I've put in for them is truly a humbling experience for me. My focus is going to shift on the general election and the differences between what my opponent is proposing from myself."

Katz will face Democrat Andrew Falk in the November general election.

The district includes Yorktown, Somers, Carmel, Putnam Valley, Southeast and Patterson.

YorktownVoter:, it seems that NO BODY listens to your complaints, right?

MisterBill2:

So is Gristina still going to be on the ballot on some other line in November? Could be fun to have a 3-way race.

Also, if it's not a politician's job to create jobs, why do Greg's signs say he's "Gettin' it Done - Jobs!" (and does anyone know which jobs he's actually talking about, or is it as real as his giant checks)? BTW, I agree that it's not their job.

mambos:

When I think of Steve Katz, I think of two things. First, is absolute integrity and second, he is doing EXACTLY what he promised to do and that is work to expose the corruption in Albany. This is refreshing.

He has earned a second term. It is not a politicians job to create jobs. No government money was spent on Apple or Microsoft.

Keep it up Steve and congratulations!

YorktownVoter:

Mr. Katz sits on the housing committee. After numerous attempts to reach his office regarding housing bills I got NO response. No response by email, phone or even an old fashion letter. What does he do on this commitee? He is such a bad choice for Yorktown....he has created NO jobs, pontificates nonsense that he is going to do something and yet we still see no results.
