Somers Republicans Plan To Honor Floods

SOMERS, N.Y. -- James Flood and his wife, Virginia Gallin, will be honored by the Somers Republican Club as the Loyal Republicans of Somers at its Annual Meeting and Christmas Party at La Fontane on Monday, Dec. 7.

The Flood's will be honored as well respected members and continuous strong supporters of the Somers Republican Club since its inception.

James Flood was born in a Republican family in Manhattan, the son of Judge John V. Flood.He attended La Salle Military Academy in Oakdale N.Y., Georgetown University and Fordam University.

He is a World War II veteran, serving as an Army Officer. He also served in the Air Force in England and France, and was a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. His civilian career started in broadcasting and public relations, much of it with Columbia Broadcasting Company. He retired in 1993 as the Vice President of Right Associates, an international management consulting company. Besides serving on various community committees, James served a number of terms as a board member of Condo 3 of Heritage Hills.

Gallin, a native of Bedford, was also born in a Republican family. She graduated from Paine Hall as Valedictorian and studied social sciences at Mercy College. Mrs. Flood has devoted a lifetime career to healthcare beginning work at New York Hospital, followed with a few years as a medical assistant in the office of a general surgeon. She retired after 26 years service at Northern Westchester Hospital, where she served as Director of Patient Services and Administrative Assistant to the NWH President.

She served two terms as President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Upper Westchester and as member of the Executive Board and Chapter President of Twigs Thriftree, a volunteer organization raising funds for NWH. She is a recipient of the Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley Award of Merit.

Flood moved to Heritage Hills, Somers in 1982 and married to Virginia Gallin in 1992. As lifelong Republicans, they always supported the functions of the Somers Republican Club. Mr. and Mrs. Flood are also life-long supporter of music and the arts including Metropolitan Opera, Caramoor Center, The Hammond and Katonah Museum, Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra and Westchester Dinner Theater.
