Reacting to this latest development in the presidential contest, Paulin, D-88, said she was “greatly disturbed” by the taped remarks.
The tape was of a conversation that the Republican presidential hopeful had with Billy Bush, who was then co-host of “Access Hollywood."
On it both Trump and Bush were captured talking about women in lewd and vulgar ways.
Trump, after being slammed by GOP leaders, apologized for the remarks, but called the uproar over the tape a distraction from the real issues the country is facing. He continued to accuse Bill Clinton of abusing women and his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, of bullying his “victims,” The Washington Post reported.
Trump maintains a home in Bedford and the Clintons have lived in nearby Chappaqua since 1999.
The tape was leaked to The Washington Post Friday just ahead of Trump’s debate with Clinton at Washington University in St. Louis, according to TMZ.com.
The letter condemning the remarks was signed by Paulin and 16 other lawmakers: state Sens. Andrea Stewart-Cousins and George Latimer; state Assembly members Tom Abinanti, David Buchwald, Sandy Galef, Shelley Mayer, Steve Otis, J. Gary Pretlow; and county legislators Catherine Borgia, Benjamin Boykin, Michael Kaplowitz, Catherine Parker, Virginia Perez, MaryJane Shimsky, Alfreda Williams and Lyndon Williams
In it, they expressed their “unequivocal condemnation” of the allegedly lewd remarks.
“Mr. Trump’s degrading words about women, and more importantly the actions of which he boasts, have no place in our society,” the statement read.
“Westchester’s women deserve to know that their leaders stand for dignity and respect for everyone,” it continued, asking the county’s elected leaders to condemn the reported remarks.
“In so doing we not only affirm our commitment to the dignity of all women, and men, but send an unequivocal signal that such attitudes and behavior are not to be tolerated by anyone in public life,” the signers said.
Trump also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
