Irene E. Boudreau, a longtime Fairfield resident, died Saturday one day after her 94th birthday. Boudreau had a number of different careers, but spent most of her working life as factory worker at Hubbell, Inc. in Bridgeport.
Boudreau was born in Danbury on May 13, 1917. She attended St. Josephs School in Danbury, graduating in 1931 with the schools first graduating class. She would later earn her high school diploma from the Fairfield Adult High School after her retirement.
Early on Boudreau worked as a certified nurse, caring for newborns in the Greater Bridgeport area. In the 1940s, she and her first husband, Leon A. Jepson, ran the Fairfield Taxi Company. She later worked as an assembler at Hubbell until her retirement in 1981.
Boudreau was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. She was a member of the parishs Ladies Guild and sang in the choir for many years. She was also an active member of the Columbiette Auxiliary of the Fr. Coleman Council Knights of Columbus.
Boudreau was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Dolor J. Boudreau. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dolores Boudreau Abbott and Tony Abbott of Trumbull, two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was buried in St. Thomas Cemetery Tuesday following a Mass at St. Thomas Church.
