Results from the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) tests were released on Tuesday morning. You can view your high school's scores here.
Across the state, there has been modest improvement over 2010 in the percentage of tenth graders scoring at or above the "proficient" and "goal" levels in most subjects, with small decreases in reading.
The overall trend in mathematics and writing scores is encouraging considering that graduation rates are increasing and drop-out rates are falling in Connecticut, Acting Commissioner George Coleman commented in a press release by the state department of education.
However, the magnitude of the increases and the relatively flat performance in reading and science is disconcerting, given the urgency that I feel about preparing all of our high school graduates to be ready to succeed as they enter college or the states workforce," Coleman said.
The CAPT test is administered annually to high school sophomores across Connecticut. It tests math, reading, writing and science and is used by the federal government to measure yearly progress through the No Child Left Behind law. The CAPT has five levels of performance for each content area tested: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, Goal and Advanced.
