Corn Maze and Scarecrow Festival at Plasko’s Farm

A-MAZE-ING FAMILY AND FRIENDS TRADITION

By DEBORAH COX

(Trumbull, CT – September 12, 2014)  Fall is in the air, and Plasko’s Farm Scarecrow Festival and corn maze in Trumbull are part of the traditional spirit of the season.   Plasko’s Farm is located at 670 Daniel’s Farm Road in Trumbull, and is visited year round by thousands of Connecticut residents and visitors each year.   The corn maze is open seven days per week to individuals and groups from now through the last weekend in October.  A different design each year, the maze features approximately 1.5 miles of intriguing twists and turns.  Maze hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.   Individual admission to the maze is free for children under age 3; $6 for children ages 3 – 11; and $7 for adults and children ages 12 and older.  All children must be accompanied by adult caregivers.  For every ticket sold for the corn maze, Plasko’s donates $1 to St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound charity for cancer prevention, education, and support programs.  The SWIM’s 45 cancer programs reach more than 30,000 individuals per year.   Group admission to the corn maze includes a hayride and a small pumpkin.  Groups may make reservations by calling 203.268.2716.   This year’s Scarecrow Festival will be held at Plasko’s Farm on Saturday, October 12.  The farm purchases all clothes to make the scarecrows from thrift stores.  People can choose the clothes and then stuff them with hay.  Admission to the Festival is free.  The Scarecrow Festival began in 1998 as a fun and active way for people to become familiar with the “last working farm in Trumbull.”
