CityCenter Danbury said they came up with the idea because by now everyone has purchased the big-ticket gifts, but always leave the great, little stocking stuffers items for the last minute.
"With the influx we see of growth in downtowns throughout the world by those who chose to live, work, learn, walk, and play in the urban life, a 'Downtown Stocking Stuffer Day' seems an appropriate program to spearhead, and perhaps someday it will go national," said PJ Prunty, executive director of CityCenter Danbury,
The downtown area offers a plethora of shops where visitors will find such goodies as chocolate truffles, toy trucks, a new whisk, or perhaps even a highly anticipated engagement ring.
A few of the great stops to make include the Danbury Museum & Historical Society's Holiday Bazaar, where shoppers will find unique handmade items for the home or to decorate the tree; the Asia Fresh Market for all eats exotic; Julissa Designs for handmade jewelry; the Workspace Collective featuring artisanal products and accessories, and the Hat City Market with food goodies from around the world.
Of course, there's plenty of other welcoming shops along the way and a few historic spots to enjoy as well.
