More than 120 local artisans will be installed throughout the school, displaying and selling their handmade crafts and artwork. There will be face-painting for the kids, along with tattoos, hair extensions, a make-a-craft station, a sand-art station and a personal appearance by Santa himself, eager to be photographed with kids of all ages.
A special room will be set aside for inexpensive gifts so that kids can do their own holiday shopping for teachers, friends and loved ones.
The Primrose gymnasium will be stocked with all sorts of collectibles, gently-used toys, books, videos, household items, china and baby equipment, all for sale.
Although the gym will be packed with tag sale shoppers, children needing a bit of activity can hang out in the YMCA Room, staffed by members of the Somers YMCA, who will supervise the kids and keep them entertained while you shop.
If you have been yearning for a Somers sweatshirt, t-shirt, hat, scarf, gym bag or shopping bag, this is your chance to stock up. All this and more will be on sale at the event, or can be ordered ahead of time on the website, then picked up on Saturday.
Last year, more than 100 gift baskets, containing gourmet items, toys, gift certificates and other treats were raffled off. There will be more this year. A silent auction will offer special prizes like a golf outing, a personal chef, restaurant dinners, hotel accommodations, and the favorite of all students: a chance to be Principal For A Day.
The curtain goes up on Holiday Happiness at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 and the action continues until 4 p.m. Primrose School is at 110 Primrose St., Lincolndale.
