Original report:

A  lockout has been issued for the Westlake campus in Thornwood late Wednesday morning.

The lockout is due to an emergency situation on campus, Mount Pleasant Central Schools Superintendent Sue Guiney said in an email.

Details regarding the situation were not immediately available.

"Lockouts are intended to protect students from danger or threats located outside the building," Guiney said. "Students and staff will not be permitted to exit the buildings and no visitors will be permitted to enter until the lockout is lifted. A lockout permits educational programs to safely continue inside the building.

"Please do not attempt to pick up your children or gain access to the buildings until the all-clear is given as this may impede the investigation. School district personnel and first responders will be working hard to control the situation and protect your children."
