Nwh-sponsored Forum Tackles Tough Transition To High School

ARMONK, N.Y. -- Byram Hills School plans to hold "8th Grade Transitions: Heading to High School," an expert panel discussion about teens' emotional and physical well-being as they transition to high school on Tuesday June 9.

Organized by the Community Health Education & Outreach at Northern Westchester Hospital, the panel aims to educate 8th grade parents on what they can expect during their child's upcoming four years.  

Event speakers include Dr. Eugene M. Kornhaber, Dr. Peter L. Richel, Elisa Bremner and Katy Gallagher.

Dr. Kornhaber is an attending physician, child psychiatry, at NWH and also has a private practice in Mount Kisco. Dr. Richel is the Chief of Pediatrics at NWH and a local pediatrician specializing in medicine devoted to infants, children, and young adults.

Brenner has expertise in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management, as well as Prevention Strategies for Childhood Obesity while Gallagher is a senior at Byram Hills High School. She is a member of the BHHS Peer Leadership program in which she teaches health to sophomores.

The panel will be moderated by Maria Simonetti, Director of Community Health Education & Outreach at Northern Westchester Hospital, and allows parents to hear from experts and learn what they need to know to help keep their teens happy and healthy during their high school years.

RSVP can be done through 8th Grade Coordinators or to specific Team Leads.
