CARMEL, N.Y. -- By a large margin, voters in the Carmel School District rejected two bond propositions totaling $85 million.

Proposition A, which cost $37 million, failed 1,430 to 810 while Proposition B, which cost $45 million, failed 1,512 to 719.

Proposition A would've replaced roofs in each school, added solar panels at each school at a cost of $5 million, purchased land to build a new transportation garage and bus yard, make updates to be compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, reconstruct softball and baseball fields and renovate the library.

Proposition B would've added innovation wings to the high school, including an 800 seat performance center, tech classrooms, and music classrooms specifically designed for music rehearsal and learning to replace existing dated and constrained music education space. It also would've expanded the  Carmel High School parking lot, added a wellness center and upgraded the fields at the high school.
