The act was passed last November, as part of a plan by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to 'build our schools and classrooms for the 21st Century to ensure that our students graduate with the skills they need to thrive in the economy of today and tomorrow.'

The state Department of Education has allocated over $700,000 for Somers, and the hearing will allow residents to discuss potential uses for the money.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
