“There’ll be about 35 or 36 camps represented,” said co-organizer Cyndi Sciacca. “Big names like Camp Kiwi, Summer Trails and the YMCA’s Camp Combe. We’ve got a lot of sports camps, pre-school camps, sleep-away camps, traditional day camps. A lot of health clubs have camps, too, like Club Fit in Jefferson Valley and the New York Sports Club.

“There’ll be camps from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania,” she continued. “There’s a science computer adventure camp, a performing arts camp, a healthy lifestyle camp and more.”

Parents and prospective campers will have the opportunity to talk to representatives, ask questions about costs, hours, before and after hours care, camper to counselor ratio and special activities. Brochures and other camp literature will be available.

To keep the little ones amused, there will be face painting and assorted snacks and treats. An exciting feature is a free raffle ticket for every family. The winner will receive a few free weeks of camp.

The Expo is not limited to Somers residents. Everyone seeking camp information is invited. Last year more than 100 families turned out and discovered exciting and unique camp opportunities.

The Camp Expo takes place Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Somers Intermediate School, 240 Route 202, Somers. The event is free. For more information contact Cyndi Sciacca at jcsciacca@optonline.net.
