SOMERS, N.Y. – Three Somers High School students were awarded scholarships Monday evening at a Republican Club dinner at Somers’ Le Fontane Restaurant.
The Somers Republican Club awarded scholarships of $500 each to seniors Ryan Matsumoto and Nick Miraglia. Matsumoto will be starting college at Stanford University in the fall; Miraglia will be at Virginia Tech.
The Somers Republican Town Committee awarded the Bob Loomis Scholarship to Somers senior Christa Pennino. The $500 award was given in memory of Bob Loomis, an outstanding district leader who passed away this year. Pennino will be going to the University of Rhode Island in the fall.
The choice of these three students was made on the recommendation of the Somers High School Guidance Office. The teens were recommended for their non-political community commitments.
