Somers Student Honored With Upstander Award

SOMERS, N.Y. – Somers High School student Emily Schreer was honored with this year's Neil Ginsberg Student Upstander Award recently at the 15th annual Human Rights Institute for High School Student Leaders.

The award is traditionally given to students who promote human rights at their schools and throughout their community, while showing the traits of an 'upstander:' care, empathy, dedication, displays of courage.

Neil Ginsberg, a social studies teacher at Scarsdale High School for more than 35 years, was at the ceremony to help present Schreer with the award.
