The award is traditionally given to students who promote human rights at their schools and throughout their community, while showing the traits of an 'upstander:' care, empathy, dedication, displays of courage.
Neil Ginsberg, a social studies teacher at Scarsdale High School for more than 35 years, was at the ceremony to help present Schreer with the award.
