Somers Students Share PJs, Stories and Holiday Joy

SOMERS, N.Y. - Every year, the 130 members of Students Taking Action Today, the Somers High School social action club, raises money to host a holiday party for needy children at the Peekskill Salvation Army.

Santa arrives, along with two busloads of Somers students, a Christmas tree, games, crafts, goodies and an individual present for each and every child. This year the choice of present is pajamas. The club is collecting new pajamas in all children’s sizes to plump up Santa’s bag. The group is also hoping to collect books to go with the pajamas.

A donation box is located in the main lobby of the high school. Students who shop for and donate new pajamas will receive two hours of community service credit and should see Anne Harris for credit.

The holiday party is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 20. Donations are welcome until then.
