Top Stories 2012: New Principal Arrives At Somers High

SOMERS, N.Y. – As 2012 draws to a close, The Somers Daily Voice is recapping some of the biggest stories of the past year.

An important event in the Somers education community was the retirement of Somers High School principal Irene Perrella and the arrival of Mark Bayer as the school’s new principal.

Bayer, who majored in math education at Manhattan College, has a master’s degree in secondary education from SUNY-New Paltz and a certificate of advanced study in educational administration.

He was formerly the assistant principal at Chappaqua’s Horace Greeley High School.

Perrella, meanwhile, is resting up and still contemplating a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
