“Being the youngest player to ever get a hole-in-one in Putnam County Golf Course history is truly a great accomplishment,” said Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell. “It is wonderful to have such exceptional talent in our community.”

DeRosa was playing with his dad on the par-3, 143-yard 16th hole when he sank a seven-iron. Upon approaching the green, they couldn’t find the ball until his dad found it in the cup after taking out the stick, according to those present at the course.

DeRosa’s hole-in-one was the first in his family.

“It is always such a great experience getting your first hole-in-one,” said Jim Woods, head golf professional at the Putnam County Golf Course. “The golf course alone is difficult and the 16th hole is a blind shot so it is very impressive.”
