Rower From John Jay HS In Running For Junior Athlete Of Year

William Legenzowski, a member of the New Canaan Crew and a student at John Jay High School in Cross River, has been nominated for Junior Athlete of the Year in the Fan's Choice Awards for US Rowing.

Legenzowski is a captain for New Canaan Crew/Maritime Rowing Club.

He won the USRowing Youth National Championships in the men’s quad. He also has won the men’s U19 single and, for the second year in a row, won the U19 M4x as stroke seat at USRowing Club National Championships.

At the Canadian Henley, he set an event record by winning the U19 men’s single, as well getting second in the U19 men’s quad. He was selected from the Northeast Region to row in the Youth Regional Challenge and stroked the men’s quad, which placed second.

Online voting by fans closes at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. The winner of Junior Athlete and other categories will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 25.
