Somers' Dylan Realbuto Commits To Wrestle At Cornell

LINCOLNDALE, N.Y. – When it came time to choose a college, Somers’ senior Dylan Realbuto wanted an excellent academic institution combined with an high-caliber wrestling program for an important reason.

Somers' senior Dylan Realbuto has verbally committed to attend Cornell next year and continue wrestling. He will join older brother, Brian, at the school.

“It was very important to my mom that I chose a good school,” said Realbuto, the 2012 New York State Division I 113-pound champion.

Realbuto verbally committed to attend Cornell, where he will join older brother, Brian, next year. Realbuto also was considering Columbia and North Carolina State.

“Wrestling-wise, Cornell is extremely good,” Realbuto said. “I also felt that I would have some of the best work-out partners in the country and the coaching staff is great.”

Realbuto said he began receiving added attention from Cornell wrestling coach Rob Koll and his staff after winning the state title in February. Once Cornell became an option for Realbuto, he sought Brian’s opinion.

“Brian let me make my own decision, but he always said he wanted me to come to college with him,” Realbuto said. “I am really looking forward to being on the same team with my brother.”

Now that Realbuto has committed to Cornell, he will not have to worry about the recruiting process.

“After I made my decision, there was a feeling of relief,” Realbuto said. “Before that, I tried not to make the pressure rush me into making my decision.”
