Somers Wrestlers Overwhelm John Jay

SOMERS, N.Y. -The Somers wrestling team continued its winning ways Wednesday with a resounding 59-14 victory over visiting John Jay.

Of the 11 contested matches, Somers won nine of them, seven by pinfall.

In the 120-pound weight class, the Tuskers' Dylan Realbuto pinned Brian Keisher in 1:15. At 138 pounds, Larry Courtien stopped Graham Backley in 5:29, Mark Lassar pinned Ben Jadow in 1:08 at 152 pounds and Brian Realbuto pinned Giancario Geniso in 1:26 at 160 pounds.

In the heavyweight division, Nick Giancaspro pinned Billy Gossett in 2:45 at 195 pounds and Dom Devita stopped Ethan Smith in 2:48 at 220 pounds.

Winning by decision for Somers were Alex Graap at 126 pounds over Ari Fay 6-3 and Kyle Turchick at 132 pounds over Alex Lambiotte 7-2.

Recording the two lone wins for John Jay were Declan Meyer at 170 pounds by technical fall over Angelo Revel 21-6 and Mike Rosenthal at 182 pounds over Jason Dibeneditto 8-6.

Brian Realbuto, a senior, and his brother Dylan, both of whom won Section 1 championships last season, along with Devita, will be representing Somers at the annual Eastern States Tournament at Sullivan Community College in Loch Sheldrake Friday and Saturday.
